The basics
Sunrise's modded server runs the FTB Evolution modpack on Minecraft 1.21.1. The modpack handles all the mods automatically — you don't need to install or configure anything by hand.

Installing the FTB App
The FTB App is the launcher that handles modpack installation. It's a separate program from your usual Minecraft launcher and doesn't interfere with it.
- Go to feed-the-beast.com/ftb-app.
- Download the FTB App for your operating system.
- Install and launch it.
- Log in with your Mojang/Microsoft account.
The FTB App keeps modpacks in its own folder, so your vanilla launcher stays untouched.
Installing FTB Evolution
Inside the FTB App:
- Click Browse Modpacks.
- Search for FTB Evolution.
- Click Install. The app downloads the modpack, mods, and a Minecraft 1.21.1 instance.
This can take a few minutes the first time — there are a lot of mods.
Connecting to the server
- Launch FTB Evolution from the FTB App (not your regular launcher — the modpack only runs there).
- From the main menu, click Multiplayer → Add Server.
- Enter the server address:
ftb.sunrisemc.fun. - Save and connect.
If your launcher and modpack both line up, you'll join straight in.
Common issues
"Connection error" or "incompatible version"
Make sure you're launching through the FTB App, not the vanilla launcher. The vanilla launcher won't have the modpack loaded and will report a version mismatch.
"Outdated client" but the version looks right
Update FTB Evolution from the FTB App's My Modpacks tab. The server modpack version is 1.30.3 — if your local copy is older, the app's update button will refresh it.
Mods not loading
Re-launch from the FTB App rather than from any cached shortcut. The app's launch wraps the right Java version and modpack profile.
What's allowed mod-wise
You're playing the modpack — all of its included mods are allowed by definition. The general rules around hacks (Fly hacks, Kill Aura, X-Ray) still apply, but those aren't modpack content. See /rules for the full list.
What's not on FTB
A few features from SMP/Skyblock don't carry over to the modded server:
- The custom enchantments (Tree Feller, Replant, Unbreakable, Telekinesis, etc.) are SMP/Skyblock only.
- Crossplay isn't possible — Bedrock can't connect.
- The economy is separate from SMP/Skyblock.
For everything else (rules, staff, support), the same community standards apply.
