Setting Up a Player Shop

Two ways to sell

There are two channels for selling to other players on Sunrise:

1. Chest shops — physical shops in your claim or in the /shop plot area, surfaced with a player warp.
2. The auction house — /ah, usable by both Java and Bedrock players.

Most successful sellers use both: chest shops for high-volume bulk goods, auction house for rare or one-off items.

Setting up a chest shop

1. Find a location

Two options:

• Use your own claim. Convenient and you control access.
• Get a free shop plot from /shop. Ask staff to assign one. Plot shops sit in a dedicated marketplace area where players naturally browse.

2. Make a warp to it

Stand at the entrance and run:

/setwarp <shopname>

Players will be able to find you with /warp <shopname> from anywhere on the server. You can fine-tune the listing afterward:

/warp desc set <warp>      give it a one-line description
/warp icon set <warp>      change the warp's display icon
/warp category set <warp> <cat>   put it under a category in the warp menu
/warp rename <warp>        rename it
/warp reset <warp>         move it to where you're standing now
/warp delwarp <warp>       remove it

A clear description and a relevant icon dramatically affect how often players visit.

3. Set up chest shops

Place a chest. Right-click an adjacent block to attach a sign. The sign syntax follows the standard chest shop format — write the price and quantity per the in-game prompts. Stock the chest with the items you're selling.

4. Pricing

Check what items go for on /ah and at neighboring shops before pricing. Two heuristics that hold up:

• Bulk goods (sugar cane, cactus, basic materials) sell ~10–30% over /sell hand to be worth visiting.
• Specialty goods (custom-enchanted gear, rare drops) price by what comparable items go for on /ah.

Tip: undercutting too aggressively wins one transaction but kills repeat customers. Most regulars buy the second-cheapest, not the cheapest.

Using the auction house

Listing an item

Hold the item you want to sell, then:

/ah sell <price>

The item is listed for everyone to browse via /ah.

When to use /ah vs. a chest shop

• /ah for: rare items, custom-enchanted gear, specialty drops, anything where the buyer doesn't know they wanted it until they see it.
• Chest shops for: bulk materials, predictable repeat purchases, anything you'd restock daily.

Bedrock players

/ah now works on Bedrock as well as Java — Bedrock sellers can list and browse just like Java players, or stick with chest shops.

Discovery and traffic

Two things drive shop traffic more than anything else:

1. A clear, descriptive warp name. "FishesShop" beats "shop12". "DiamondGearShop" beats "FishesShop".
2. Mentions in chat. When you restock or list a rare item, a brief in-game announcement is the best advertising the server allows.
