The big picture
Money on Sunrise SMP comes from four main sources: selling materials, mcMMO skills, voting, and player trade. Most players combine all four. The biggest single goal — unlocking the /fly command from the server shop — costs around $35 million, so think of this as a long game.
The fastest passive income: farms
Selling stacks of bulk materials via /sell hand is how nearly every wealthy player got there. The goods that hold up over time:
- Sugar cane — easy to AFK farm, sells reliably.
- Cactus — top-tier passive income. Several players run cactus farms in the 500,000+ range.
- Diamonds — a solid stockpile-and-sell staple; check the live price with
/worthrather than assuming a fixed rate. - Netherite — high value per item; worth setting aside from mining trips.
- Building bulk — gravel, tuff, blackstone, blue ice, and packed ice sell reliably and are easy to gather in volume.
Check the sell price of any item with /worth while holding it — prices are market-driven, so there's no fixed rate.
Tip: ask in chat where the busiest
/wildresource zones are before setting up a big farm — claim conflicts are easier to avoid up front than to untangle later.
mcMMO skills
mcMMO adds RPG-style skill levels to everyday actions. As you mine, chop, fish, and fight, your skill levels increase and unlock passive bonuses — faster mining, double drops, critical hits, and more. There's nothing extra to enable; just play normally and your skills grow automatically.
Voting (free, daily)
Voting is the most reliable free income source on the server. Run /vote in-game to open the four vote sites for SMP, then vote on all four in the same day to receive a Vote Key.
A few practical points:
- Offline voting works. If you vote while not logged in, your reward is held until you next join.
- Bedrock players: include the
.prefix. Your username has one and the vote sites need it exactly. - PlanetMinecraft sometimes drops votes. If you voted on all sites but didn't get your key, message staff with your username — they can manually grant it.
- Vote milestones unlock ranks. At 420 total votes you'll reach the Moon rank, which includes
/flydirectly. That alone makes voting one of the highest-value activities on the server.
Auction House and player shops
Once you have stockpiles, sell to other players for higher margins than /sell hand gives you.
/ah browse the auction house
/ah sell <price> list the item you're holding
Bedrock players can now use
/ahtoo — chest shops in player warps still work if you prefer them.
For chest shops, set up at a public spot or claim a free shop plot at /shop (ask staff for assignment). Then:
- Use
/setwarp <name>so other players can find you. - Place a chest with a sign on top.
- Stock it and price it competitively — check
/ahto see what items are going for.
Pay-to-unlock perks (worth saving for)
A few money sinks are worth setting goals around:
/fly— costs about $35 million from/shop. The standard end-game purchase. Faster path: vote your way to Moon rank.- Home upgrades — extra
/sethomeslots, bought through/shop. Tiers must be purchased in order — you can't skip. - Sun and Moon rank perks — Sun unlocks
/back,/fix,/hat, and extra homes; Moon adds/flyand Keep Inventory on top.
Useful economy commands
/balance see your balance
/pay <player> <amt> send money to another player
/sell hand sell the item you're holding
/worth check sell price of held item
/ah auction house (Java + Bedrock)
/ah sell <price> list the held item
/shop server shop (perks, kits, upgrades)
A starter plan
If you're new, here's an order that works for most players:
- Run
/kit claimand protect a small base. - Start a sugar cane or cactus farm as soon as you can. Even small ones add up.
- Vote every day. Set a reminder.
- Use
/sell handto turn gathered materials into cash; check prices with/worth. - Once you have a stockpile, list bulk goods on
/ahinstead of/sell handto get more per item. - Keep voting toward Moon rank (420 votes) for the
/flyshortcut.
By the time you hit Moon, you'll have enough income running passively to start saving toward whatever's next.
