Setting a nickname
A nickname changes the name shown next to your messages in chat. Set one with:
/nick <name> set your nickname
/nick off clear it and go back to your username
Nicknames can be up to 32 characters long. There's no forced prefix — your nickname is exactly what you type (staff and rank tags are added separately, see below).
Colors and formatting
You can style your nickname with & color and format codes:
/nick &6Sunny gold-colored nickname
/nick &b&lFrost aqua + bold
Common codes: &6 gold, &b aqua, &a green, &c red, &l bold, &o italic. Color and format codes don't count toward the 32-character limit, so a short name can still be fully styled.
Keep it readable and within the chat rules — impersonating staff or using an offensive nickname isn't allowed. See /rules for the full chat policy.
Chat emojis
Type :emoji: codes in chat and they auto-convert to symbols. Some of the ones available:
| Type this | You get |
|---|---|
 | ❤ |
:star: | ✮ |
:skull: | ☠ |
 | ☺ |
 | ☹ |
:peace: | ✌ |
 | ➜ |
:snowman: | ☃ |
There's no limit on how many emojis you can put in a single message.
Muting chat you don't want
If someone's messages are bothering you, hide them:
/ignore <player> hide that player's chat and messages
Run it again on the same player to un-ignore them. Ignoring is personal and silent — the other player isn't told. For genuine harassment, ignoring isn't enough on its own: report it to staff with screenshots. See Reporting Issues and Getting Help for how.
Rank tags
The colored tag shown before your name in chat comes from your rank, not your nickname — you can't set it with /nick. Ranks (and their tags) are earned through voting or the server shop; see Player Ranks and Progression.
Bedrock note
Bedrock usernames keep their . prefix, and nickname color rendering can differ slightly from Java through Geyser. Setting a nickname with /nick still works the same way.
