What is /enchantinfo?
When you pick up an enchantment book and aren't sure what it does, hold it in your hand and run:
/enchantinfo
A message will appear in chat naming the enchantment, its level, and a plain-English description of what it does. This works for both vanilla books and the server's custom enchantment books.
Tip: You can also hover over a book in your inventory to see its enchantment name if tooltips are on, but
/enchantinfogives the clearest description for custom enchants.
Using the anvil
An anvil lets you combine enchantments without losing your item, rename items, and repair gear. Place an anvil block and right-click it to open the interface — it has three slots: left input, right input, and an output slot on the right.
Combining a book onto a tool:
- Place your tool (sword, pickaxe, armor piece) in the left slot.
- Place an enchantment book in the right slot.
- The output slot shows the enchanted result and the XP cost.
- Click the output to take the item — the XP is spent.
Combining two items to merge enchants:
You can place two of the same item type in the anvil to merge their enchantments onto one. The left-slot item keeps its name; the right-slot item's enchantments are transferred. The XP cost scales with how many enchantments are involved.
Renaming:
Fill in the name field at the top of the anvil UI — there's a text box. A rename costs 1 level in vanilla. Custom enchants and higher-level items cost more; if the cost exceeds 39 levels the game shows "Too Expensive" and won't let you proceed.
"Too Expensive" workaround: Apply enchants in small batches on a fresh item rather than piling all books onto the same piece repeatedly. Each prior-work penalty adds up.
Mending
Mending is a special vanilla enchantment: while you hold or wear an item that has Mending, XP orbs you collect repair the item instead of going to your level bar.
- You get Mending books from fishing, trading, crate drops, and occasionally from voting.
- Apply it to your best tools and armor first — it effectively gives them infinite durability as long as you're earning XP (killing mobs, mining, farming).
- An item can have only one Mending book on it (it conflicts with Infinity on bows).
On Skyblock: Mending is especially valuable because XP loops (mob grinders, auto-farms) are common and keep your gear topped up passively.
Custom enchantments
Sunrise has a small set of server-specific enchantments — Unbreakable, Tree Feller, Replant, and others — that are applied through books just like vanilla enchants: put the custom book in the right slot of an anvil with your tool in the left slot. Use /enchantinfo to confirm the level and effect before spending XP.
For the full list of what each custom enchant does, see Custom Enchantments.
Bedrock note
Anvils and custom enchantments are Java-only. If you play on Bedrock via Geyser, the anvil UI does not function — you won't be able to apply or combine books. Mending from gear you already picked up will still work passively. For more on Bedrock limitations and workarounds, see Joining from Bedrock Edition.
