How money works on Skyblock
Skyblock uses the same Vault economy as the rest of Sunrise — the number you see with /balance is real, spendable money. You earn it by selling the materials your island produces, and you spend it on island upgrades (better generators, new biomes) and on the server shop. The difference from SMP is where your materials come from: on Skyblock your island is your domain, so everything you sell is grown or generated at home rather than gathered by roaming out into the map.
Selling what you gather
The workhorse command is /sell hand (alias /sh) — hold a stack and it sells it to the server at the current market rate. Before you bulk-sell, check what something is worth:
/worth show the sell price of the item you're holding
Where do the materials come from? Your island generators and farms. A cobblestone or ore generator running into a collection system, a crop or mob farm, a tree farm — these are your income engines. If you want better generators and the island levels that unlock them, see Leveling Your Island, Generators, and Biomes.
The server shop
Open the server shop with:
/shop
The shop buys and sells at fixed prices set by the server. It's the always-open baseline: it never runs out and never closes, so it's a reliable floor for both buying blocks you need and offloading what you gather. Player-to-player prices on the Auction House can often beat it, but the shop is always there.
The Auction House
The Auction House (/ah) is the player market — you list items for other players to buy, and browse what everyone else has put up. Open it with:
/ah
To sell, hold the item you want to list and run:
/ah sell <price>
Your item goes up for everyone to see. When a buyer clicks it to purchase, the money transfers to you automatically — there's nothing else to collect. Listing is free: there is no listing fee to put an item up for sale, so you can list freely without spending money up front. Listings stay up for up to 7 days, after which an unsold item moves to your expired listings for you to collect back.
The Auction House has a few useful sub-commands beyond /ah sell:
/ah active your currently listed items
/ah expired items that didn't sell, ready to collect back
/ah bids auctions you've bid on
/ah cart items you're buying
/ah filter filter the listings you're browsing
Bedrock players can use /ah too — the Auction House works over crossplay just like it does on Java.
Paying players and checking your balance
To see how much money you have:
/balance your current balance (alias: /bal)
To send money directly to another player:
/pay <player> <amount>
